Floating Staircase
& Atrium — Santa Rosa

The brief for this Santa Rosa project centered on a single, ambitious idea: a floating staircase that would feel like sculpture as much as structure. Open walnut treads cantilever from a steel stringer, with a taut stainless cable railing that keeps sightlines clear through the two-story atrium.
Getting a floating stair right is precision structural carpentry — every tread anchored to carry full load with no visible support, every cable tensioned to code without visual clutter. A walnut accent wall anchors the landing and ties the millwork together.
The result is the architectural centerpiece of the home: a stair that draws the eye up through the light-filled space and shows exactly the kind of custom structural work Prime Level takes on.
